MISSION STATEMENT

The aims, object and purpose of OPTAMUS UNBSJ INC shall be:

  • To provide support and assistance for all part-time and mature students at University of New Brunswick, Saint John.

  • To promote the involvement of part-time mature university students in academic committees and university governing bodies.

  • To provide a channel of communication between part-time and mature students and the university administration.

  • To take action to bring about access to any and all degrees by part time study, especially graduate, professional and honours degrees not presently offered on campus.

  OBJECTIVES FOR 2002-2003

  • OPTAMUS UNBSJ INC. will continue serving Part-Time students on Campus.

    1. Maintain the office and lounge.

    2. Represent part-time students on campus.

    3. Organize social events for part-time and mature students.

    4. Work with the Orientation and Student Life and Support Services to involve part-time students in Campus Events.

    5. Measurement criteria: Student feedback.

    6. Maintain social and financial commitment to Part-Time Scholarships and Bursaries.

  • OPTAMUS UNBSJ Inc. will promote the organization to raise the level of public awareness both on and off campus.

  • OPTAMUS UNBSJ Inc. will seek out ways to recruit part-time

  • Approach Student Life and Support Services and the Registrar to seek advice

  • Develop a strategy and budget.

  • Develop literature to promote the advantages of attending part-time.

  • Lobby Government regarding incentives and part-time student loans.
