OF PART TIME AND MATURE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The Parents and Partners Event held in the Baird Cafeteria on September 2, 2002 served to introduce new students and their parents to the Student Life and Academic facilities available at UNBSJ. The groups represented were: SRC, (Student Representative Council), OPTAMUS,( Organization of Part-Time and Mature University Students), Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Business, Faculty of Sciences and Applied Sciences, Nursing, Safety and Security, Student Life and Support Services, SPARC and International Office. The speeches by Dr. Tom Condon and Dr. Richard Papenhausen were well received by a full house. It was a very successful event and OPTAMUS is pleased to have had the opportunity to be there. The OPTAMUS table was decorated with the OPTAMUS Banner, pictures of the current Executive Committee and Board of Directors, as well as pamphlets, brochures information sheets and the OPTAMUS Student Handbook for Part-time and Mature Students written and produced by Wendy Coughlin. Mary Anne LeBlanc, President of OPTAMUS and Wendy Coughlin, Office Administrator answered questions and distributed the literature. People were looking for information for their personal use or for family members and friends.
