Dr. Richard Papenhausen
Director of Student Life and Support Services After teaching literature at York University, UPEI and Simon Fraser University, Dr. P. came to UNB Saint John in 1981 to become Director of Student Services and to teach at least 6 credit hours per year in the Humanities Department. Over the years, as UNB Saint John has grown, the responsibility for Student Services has also grown. Dr. P. now concentrates on student-centered learning, student retention and student government issues, and has a staff of 11 persons, not including those in Athletics, which is now also a part of the Student Life and Support Services department. He is the author of three books on Active Learning and Student Success - one of which is dual language: Chinese and English. Dr. P. likes to play chess and help students become a success at university. He is one of the founding advisors of OPTAMUS UNBSJ and long time supporter of same.
