OPTAMUS UNBSJ INC., in existence at UNBSJ since
1978, became formally recognized by the university administration
as the representative of part-time students in 1986, and was
incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1992. OPTAMUS UNBSJ INC., is the
student government for part-time students and an advocate for mature full
time students. Funded by part-time student fees, OPTAMUS
offers bursaries and scholarships to part-time students, as well as maintaining
the office and a student lounge. The lounge houses a microwave oven,
refrigerator and coffee service. It is a great place for students to have
a lunch, to meet friends or to just relax between classes.

Closes
its Doors Forever.
The
Board of Governors of UNB decided at the February
meeting to refuse to continue the funding of the
part time student organization. The new voice
for part time students on the Saint John Campus is
delegated to the Student Representative Council, who
plan to create a Vice President of Part Time
students on their Executive.
