Mission Statement

Ridgewood Addiction Services provides holistic, client centered care through a range of prevenative, treatment and rehabilitative services both inpatient and outpatient for Health Region II. Ridgewood is a provincial referral center for inpatient, 4 week residential, rehabilitative services.
Ridgewood strives for excellence of serving effectiveness of service delivery and optimal use of of resources.

Description of Services

Ridgewood is a community based addiction service of the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation. A broad range of services are provided to chemically dependant individuals, compulsive gamblers, their families,and the community.
SERVICES:
Outpatient counselling- confidential assessment, consultation and family counselling is proviede to clients of all ages by professional social workers on an outpatient basis. In addition, a variety of educational and therapeutic groups are offered. Experienced adolescent counsellors provide individual, group, and family treatment to clients under the age of 19 and their families.

Detoxification- The detox unt is staffed by nurses and attendants. It provides a safe withdrawal from mood altering chemicals, a stable environment in crisis and motivation towards recovery.

Rehabilitation-For those requiring more intensive treatment the 4 week residential rehab program gives the client the knowledge, skills and insight required to live a drug free, healthy life. The program includes instructin in stress management, fitness, leisure activities , nutrition and healthy interpersonal relationships. Programs designed specially to meet the needs of women are offered at regular intervals.

Family Education- A 2 day family program is offered monthly. Emphasis is on helping family members understand how they have been affected by chemical dependency and how to make the necessary adjustments.

Prevention and Education- The community Services Unit develops and implements prevention and education initiatives. Target groups include the educational and health care systems, business industry, and special needs groups such as seniors, youth and the disabled.

Lonewater Farm- is a facility for chemically dependent males which offers intermediate and long term care with reintegration into the community.

OUTPATIENT GROUPS

R.O.A.D. Program - (Remaining Off Addiction and Dependencies). Educational program. Content covers: Attitudes for recovery; craving control; stress management; controlling upsetting emotions; social support for recovery; and relapse prevention.

GAM-911- educational program for people experiencing difficulties with gambling. Content covers: understanding addictive gambling behavior; analyzing your personal gambling patterns; changing self- defeating behaviour patterns; and ongoing recovery.

How To Series- Educational and interactive program covers how to : express feelings; manager anger; problem solve; and build self esteem.

Relapse Prevention- An 8 week group designed for those who have been working a recovery program with the emphasis on preventing relapse.
